The objective of the Bachelor of Science degree in Unified Public Safety Administration is to provide students with an opportunity to acquire a broad quality-based education and the specific conceptual and research knowledge necessary to be productive practitioners in the Unified Public Safety Administration field. This degree program grows from the solid foundational curriculum of the university, bonding academic disciplines of a required concentration with core resource management skills of communication, leadership, and management to prepare graduates for positions in demand. Students enrolled in the UPSA program can enroll in one of four concentrations: Fire and Emergency Medical Service Administration, Law Enforcement Administration, Emergency Management Administration, Public Facilities Management. This program also expands the opportunity for students to achieve their educational goals as they retain current positions and advance to positions of greater responsibilities.

This degree can prepare individuals for entry into federal, state, and local agencies. The State of Louisiana Workforce Commission projects an increased need of 8.6% by 2024 for positions in the management of companies and enterprises. For workplace positions in the specific concentrations of the degree: workforce increases of 13.1 % for professional, scientific and technical services; a projected 14.5% increase in health care and social assistance positions; and, a 12% increased need for administrative support personnel. The very dangerous, continually increasing and evolving threats to homeland security and cybercrime have mandated a new need for public safety professionals. The now very vocal, urgent demand is for specialized interpersonal and analytical skills, and contemporary, state-of-the-art perspectives on the scientific, social, and informational concentrations involved in efficient and effective intelligence
gathering, policing, fire services and emergency medical services, correctional analysis, hazardous materials handling, emergency management, proactive planning, security services, and other public safety arenas.
Students enrolled in the B.A. in Unified Public Safety Administration may be eligible to receive a fee exemption and credits upon presentation of credentials to the University.
