The mission of Southeastern’s Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences program is to prepare students for professions that enhance and strengthen the well-being of individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan. Through dynamic coursework and a variety of field experiences, students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional characteristics to pursue careers or advanced studies in human development and family studies, child life, or nutrition education and promotion. Southeastern’s Human Sciences program is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and is recognized by the National Council on Family Relations as an approved program to offer students the opportunity to become Certified Family Life Educators.
Today’s human science graduates are professionals who may practice in multiple settings. They are early childhood, elementary, secondary, university/college, and extension educators, administrators and managers, human service professionals, researchers, community volunteers, business people, and consultants who address the issues most important to our quality of life.
