Health Systems Management, B.S.

Southeastern’s Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management, or HSM, is a new curriculum that focuses on “the business of healthcare.” The program looks at the system of healthcare as a population health phenomenon. This curriculum teaches students the current and trending healthcare systems. It also teaches tools and methods to improve safety and quality in healthcare systems, how to collect and analyze data, and how to focus on outcomes in a healthcare setting. The curriculum introduces the financial operations of the healthcare system: reimbursement based on outcomes and the “value vs volume” based care that is evolving in today’s healthcare society. It also covers the importance of accreditation for healthcare systems, health informatics, and the role they play in modern healthcare.
