Education changes lives! The Early Childhood Education program at McNeese is committed to developing graduates fully prepared to become effective early childhood, grades pre-K through 3rd, classroom teachers who have a positive impact on student learning. Within our 120-hour program, Early Childhood Education majors also complete special education coursework and can take the Special Education Praxis exam, which are requirements to add the Early Interventionist credential to the teaching license.
The degree plan supports students’ understanding of high-leverage practices and data-driven instructional decisions through coursework, practice in the field, and feedback from skilled and experienced faculty. Graduates will be able to lead tutoring groups, work within various curriculums, and support a variety of learners.
At completion of this program, you will be a fully certified teacher in Louisiana for grades pre-K through 3rd. If you choose to complete the Special Education Praxis exam, you will also be certified to teach as an Early Interventionist. Our programs are nationally accredited, which allows your valid teaching license to transfer to any state through reciprocity. If you aspire to advance your career after earning this degree, McNeese offers a fully online master’s in education program.
